Anne Rice!! She writes THE BEST vampire books! I love to read her work. You will too.

*Interview with a vampire
*Queen of the Damned
*Of Blood and Gold
The list goes on! You may want to read them in order, but you don't really have too.

Any Laurell K. Hamilton book from the Anita Blake, vampire hunter series. Look here: http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/ and you can find info on the author and her books.
Anne Rice also has some wonderful books as well.

Read Anne Rice's books! I don't know what the vampire series is called, but the first one in it is Interview with a Vampire. She is an amazing writer.

I went through a period where I read all of Anne Rice's vampire series. But after a while she seemed to get all good and evil with it. The first four or five are absolutely the BEST! I'm looking forward to reading some of these other suggestions. Thanks for the question!

Read the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. They are excellent. Also, the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison isn't bad.

Man, you can never go wrong with stuff by Anne Rice, so I would recommend some of those. There is always the origional big daddy: Dracula, by Bram Stoker. That is all off the top of my head

You can't go wrong with the original vampire book, Bram Stoker's "Dracula". Excellent.
