I think everyone does. When we live life vicariously that is what makes us strive to be a different (and hopefully better) person. It is what gives us ideas for who we want to be. Anyone who argues otherwise is not considering the human ability to see the world through other people's perspectives. When we live life through another person it enables us to choose who we want to be, and sometimes who we don't want to be. Anyone who argues otherwise better not be watching TV!

yes and no.

I don't force people to do the things I want them to do to make up for my own shortcomings (like a father who forces his son to play baseball so the father can live out his dream of being a pro ballplayer even though the son hates playing)

I do live my life through my loved ones insofar as their happiness is directly tied to my happiness. If they are sad, then I am sad with them, even if the cause of their sadness is not something I care about.

I sure used to but I didn't know it. That is one bad habit. My mother tried to warn me as a child, but it took me another 50 years. Even hearing the story of one of the smartest men in the USA who had to start all over from scratch did not do it for me. What did do it was hearing about the law of attraction and setting out to verify every major detail of my past against the theory. It was the best move I have ever made.

I try not to. But I find myself (often) instructing my younger sister on how to live her life, to make sure she makes better decisions then I did.

Many parents, also, force their children to do things they missed out on, which can cause much harm to the kids.

It's probably not a good thing to live life through others. They may try to do nothing but please you, and believe that you don't like them cause they're not good enough.

Absolutely not. I am no voyeur. I do, however, live my life WITH other people.
