thus: he/she tells you a secret and desires of you to keep your mouth shut.

i think it is eaither saying one or two things
1) that if your friend does not tell you when you are doing something that they knoe thst you should not be doeing does not tell you that what you are doning is wrong! which is a lie because a true freind will always tell you if you are doin something that you should not be

2) that a friend that never tells your secrets...is a friend that will never turn their backs on you!...(this personally is what i believe is the true meaning!)
