a closed-ended question, an open-ended question would require an explanation not a yes or no answer.

A question that is yes/no would be something like the following:

1. Are you tall?
(yes or no)

2. Do you have long hair?
(yes or no)

3. Do you like soda?
(yes or no)

you could call a yes or no question the following:

"affirmative-negative question"

"Black/white question"

"Dumb Question"

"Yay or Nay Question"
or a
"Yes or No Question"
