An old joke, but I never tire of it.
And, realistically, it's because a square box is easier to make than a circular one, plus, it's easier to hold and carry and stack, and it's cheaper to make--have you ever taken apart or crushed a square pizza box? It's just a big square with panels that connect on the sides. Imagine how hard it would be to make a cylindrical container out of cardboard--not only would it be extremely finicky, but it would also take a lot more materials.


P.S. Don't forget, there are square pizzas nowadays, too. :)

because a round box would look retarded as well as be hard to make/use. and the square pizza thing just never seemed to catch on lol.

Boxes are easier to make if they are square/rectangle. A round box (would be octagon or such) has too many edges to fold and would cost a lot more to make as it would require too many cuts as well as impressions for folding.

Pizza boxes come flat and have to be folded into shape. It is quite fast with the current design.

It is easier and cost effective to make a square box than a circle shaped one. Also is better for storage purposes.

cause the corners of a square is a triangle so it's more firmer and stronger then a cirlce one also generaly square boxes are easier to make
