They are so boring I think I would rather watch grass grow. It starts with the unis and goes to the lack of flamboyant superstars. Im sorry no one wants to see a tim duncan bank shot.

Nobody started badmouthing or hating the Spurs until this series with Phoenix. Problem is they are somewhat boring (not to me). But the main reason is because they play good, hard-nosed, tough, physical defense and usually that results in other players and fans being frustrated and looking for an excuse to why they are losing, in this case year in and year out. The Spurs are in no way a dirty or classless team. For years now the Spurs have been the class of the NBA. Nobody on the Spurs complain about bad calls. They just deal with it and move on to the next play. All they do is play basketball how it should be played and WIN.
The #1 reason most people hate the Spurs is the same reason people hate the Yankees, the Patriots, and the Red Wings.............b/c they are WINNERS!
To the guy answering above me.....I love watching Timmy Fundamental shoot the shot off the glass, cause its moooonnnneeeyyyyyyy!
OK Clifford......we get it, you don't like the Spurs style of play. Quit ramblin. You also just said that Tim Duncan wasn't all that good. Are you freakin stupid? 10 straight playoff games with 20+ points and 10+rebs. 3 rings and 3 FINALS MVP's, 2 NBA MVP's. What else could you ask for? This is possibly the most irritating statement I have ever read on here. You must be one of the haters that thinks Kobe isn't any good either.
Ride The Lightning - Yeah the Spurs won 3 titles in 7 years because of bad calls, dirty players, and unfair suspensions. You got it...............Rediculous, you people know nothing about good defense. Thats all it is.

Well "everyone" doesnt. I find them a bit arrogant, and i do think its pretty low to deal out the cheap shots that some of the players do.
but i have a lot of respect for duncan and parker...
theyve just got some bad publicity from the suns series...the suns are complaining too much, amare needs to shut up if he wants to be respected as a great player...yeah, maybe hes gotten roughed up and not gotten the calls, but that is basketball. In basketball you have to accept what happens rules-wise, fair or not, and just get over them. I really dont see how the suns think the spurs have had it so nice, im sure theyve worked through many unfair situations, but they are a team that deals with it by playing, not complaining...
basketballs rough, and if you want to be a good player youll have to put up with it sometimes...

Why do poeple call them boring? Did you not see game 6 where they were nocking down threes like crazy and the fans went wild. If you watched the game it wasnt nothing short of boring. ANd how come people say the Spurs were handed the series. Game 5 couldive easily been won by the suns by they did not finish, and to me that is there fault. And game six they were given all their players, and still were blown out in the fourth. Thanks to Steve nash did they give him a legit chance of surviving. If you knew about good, hard defensive, basketball you wouldnt call the Spurs dirty.

Because they are a small market team and they win. San Antonio is a small media market so the fans they have are not nationwide and Gangsta like Laker and Yankee fan. So when they win they are usually knocking off a larger market team like the Lakers, Suns, Mavericks or Detroit. So the potential for Hating a team that knocks off your team is potentially more widespread because when they knock off a large market team they piss off a lot of the large market fans. For those that think that the NBA favors the Spurs, why would they? They would make more money if the Suns had advanced. For the whole "boring" thing....it's the same thing, larger market fans getting ticked about a smaller market beating their team and then badmouthing them and calling their playstyle boring. If your a Fan of a team their playstyle is not boring when they win, and since their a smaller market they have a smaller fan base and since they knock off larger market teams they have more people that hate them.

Honestly, the Spurs are just a boring team sometimes. I see them as a team who wins the championship and then shares a cup of tea in the locker room. Their star player Tim Duncan has no emotion whatsoever, and Tony Parker has a boring monotone voice. It did not help when Robert Horr-ibble basically handed the spurs the victory in Phoinex when he popped Steve Nash. It's a sad time to be an NBA fan when the spurs are basically handed a series...
Boring, dirty, and cheap.

primarily because the spurs are boring....they do the same plays they did years ago and they are nothing new and have the same players as before....people want new blood in the finals and having the spurs in the finals will just make it look like a "just-another-spurs-year" and they are getting tired of it....the spurs are good but there's nothing eye-popping on what they do which is what fans want to see....
plus bruce bowen and robert horry's dirty plays affects the team's image....
how i really wish the suns would make it to the finals and win it all....

That is a good question, I have always liked the Spurs and I think the reason why people don't like them is because they are too good.

Well I think it has to do with the fact that they might just be the most boring to team to watch in the N.B.A. I know you Spurs fans would strongly disagree but let me tell you why theyre so boring. Do they have any high flyers? No. Do they have any up tempo guards that can dish well? (ex. Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Baron Davis) No. Yes they have Tony Parker but he is not very exiting to watch. He's almost perfect for Tim Duncan because he's Mr. Fundamentals and Tony plays the similiar textbook style as well. I honestly have never seen Tim Duncan dunk over anybody in the leauge. This guys is 7 feet tall and I bet his vertical is maybe 20 inches. Theyre are so many exiting players out there in the N.B.A. Even if they are not as successful as the Spurs theyre just more fun to watch. Spurs run a basic offense off Duncan where they get it into him and then Parker cuts Ginobli sits outside the perimeter and they wait to see what Duncan is going to do. And if he doesnt pass it out to Ginobli or to a cutting Parker he does a good post move to get either the hook shot , bank shot, or straight up jumper. It's kind of like watching the old timers when hardly anyone could do some incredible athletic things. Also it's not just theyre lack of athleticism (and I know they have Michael Finley) but it's theyre lack of showtime play. Like if you watch the New Jersey Nets youll see Jason Kidd on the fast break making awesome passes and oops to Carter and Jefferson. Or if you watch Golden State you got Baron Davis running the floor with Jason Richardson. Even the Bulls who are not that flashy are exciting because Ben Wallace and Ben Gordon who can make some incredibly tough shots. It is theyre style of play that makes them boring to watch and frustrating to see them be so successful. People like teams that are exciting and if they are exciting then they want them to do well. I personally do not like the Spurs. The reason why I dont like them is because theyre style of play and the fact that Tim Duncan always gets first team All N.B.A. not to mention M.V.P. a couple times. To me hes not that great of a player. I think Yao Ming should have gotten first eam All N.B.A. this year. Duncan can be stopped especially if double teamed. Shaquille Oneal can kill Duncan inside and back in the day would absolutely dominate him. Hakeem Olajuwon would make him look silly in the post even with Duncan's supposively good post moves. Tony Parker is not that great either. Steve Nash would tear him up all day. Despite the Spurs players not being that great when they come together as a team they are very good and it just works. They can play with anybody. However the reason why people do not like the Spurs is because they dont give the fans a show. They simply are not entertaining and to me theyre players individually are over-rated.
