You could keep it in the tank for a while, but once it starts forming legs, you'll need to provide it with a way to get out on land.

Rather than use a dish in the 5.5 gallon, it would be better to put a rock on one end he can climb onto and make the rest of the tank water - at least until he's a frog. Then you can make more land area and use a dish he can easily get out of for drinking and soaking.

Nope - tadpoles become frogs, and that's way too small to keep a frog in. You will need a minimum of a 30 gallon long terrarium for the frog, and should give the tadpole the environment he will grow up in.

I don't see why not. The tadpole won't remain that size for much longer, and then he won't need much more than a water dish as a frog.

Yes but make sure you don't put fish are in the tank, and when it turn into a frog let all of the water out because it can't breathe under water and it is going to DIE.

They make small filters especially for small tanks, like this one-http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441810417&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030565&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1179621189903&itemNo=2&In=Fish&N=2030565&Ne=2

But yes, you could do that.
