I am an artist and enjoy making art that communicates certain ideas I have. Recently, I had a show that sold out in a few hours. But, it's very difficult to find others that are interested in art. Most people sit around and talk about Hollywood. Where are all of the Brunelleschi's and Rembrandts? Why does everything have to revolve around TV and sex. Does anyone feel like this will ever change and creativity will be re-born?

We can become and are creative. Just take a look around. Search it out! Do not be down-hearted. Art, sculpture, photography, dance, theater, music, etc. Not everything revolves around sex...at least that I see. That may also be because I choose not to have television service in my home though; and I take my children and partner to these type of things.

The creativity isn't lacking, the outlet to express your "art" has increased and flooded the market. Realistically, how many people in the 1500's could actually manage to make and sell art? Surviving day to day was much harder then. if you were lucky enough to be able to make it, it was a huge deal. Today many people are creative yet the art is drowned in a sea of other pieces, other types, other media. The competition alone makes it much harder to get your work noticed.

I'm fed up with the amount of sex in the media too. Sex is good, but its not the most important thing in my life. it might calm down a bit, if the media stopped hounding the younger people with audio and visual sex all the time. most people who are 30+ probably find it as annoying as i do. the best way to tackle it, is to stop the media from brainwashing our kids. and how to do that...i dont know!

Creativity exists to solve a problem, wealth limits the types of problems that exist and America is the wealthiest nation ever to exist. We are not Goya painting the Inquisition and its horrors. We do not need, as much, to express the horrors of life to make it palatable. In fact, to the contrary, we wish to pretend entropy does not intrude upon our life. In many respects, we are in danger of living Nietsche's "last man," rather than his ubermensch. He felt the danger is that we would move toward mediocrity and hence die out as a species rather than evolve into a better fit to the world and its environment through the use of our minds and bodies.

Rembrandt does not need to exist, Jim Henson does (I do love Henson but hopefully you see the point).

TV and sex are art in their own forms now. It can be argued that they're the most consumed form of art.

Think about it, they're all based on performance, it's performance art.
