A book I have says this:

Swelling is a natural condition of pregnancy that affects almost all women. It may cause you some discomfort, but swelling is normal: it's particularly common late in the day, in warm weather or after you've been sitting down or standing up for long periods. Ths is a result of the rise in female hormones during pregnancy, particularly the estrogens manufactured by the placenta--which cause fluid retention.
Although diuretics (water pills) are harmful in pregnancy, there are some natural cures that can assist you.

Helpful hints about swelling:
Vitamin C can increase urine production and aid in the reduction of swelling
Vitamin B6, especially used together with vitamin c can be an effective diuretic
A diet high in protein (150g) can help
Apple cider vinegar can be a harmless diuretic (try two teaspoons before meals)
frequent low key excercise such as swimming or walking can reduce swelling
Avoid tight clothes, remove rings on your fingers and toes, change positons often when you stand or sit, soak your feet in cold water
avoid salty foods

Its probably a combination of you being pregnant as well as being sleep if you can sleep with your feet elevated that may help with your circulation problem when you are up and moving your circulation should go back to normal

Too much sodium(salt) in your diet. Lack of circulation would make your hands and feet etc be blue colored. Make sure your Dr. knows you have swollen extremities.
