If you are salaried, it might not be dependant on state law, but on your company policy. Check your company's policy manual or employment handbook and see what it says. Often time, sick leave is time available IF YOU ARE SICK, you don't get to collect the money for days you didn't take because you were not sick. Vacation time is often paid, but the company may limit how much you can accrue for payment, and may deduct vacation pay if you leave without giving sufficient notice - usually 2 to 4 weeks.

If you want to see the specific law, check the Department of Labor website, or the DOL section of your state website.
