Hello,

I went through this with depo also. This was like a decade ago...I continued to get the injections, because I a) literally couldn't stomach b/c pills, they made me deathly ill and b) couldn't remember to take them everyday anyway. I stopped taking it because I was apparently one of the very few it didn't work for. It was explained to me that depo keeps you from getting pregnant by stopping the "ovulation" process. I went and got my shot every time I was supposed to, yet I continued to ovulate 0_o Needless to say, that combined with the non-stop crying and month-long periods added up to me finding an alternate method. I looked online to find some info for you and there were so many sites that show depression as a side effect of this drug. In fact their own packaging even says something about if you are prone to depression..not to use it. My last gyn said that there are so many negative side effects with depo that she refuses to prescribe it any longer. Me personally...I use the patch. I mean all b/c has side effects and you have to determine which is the best option for YOU (ask your Dr. lots of questions). I like the patch because I only have to remember it once a week (I choose Saturdays as they seem to be the most "memorable" day of the week for me) and best of all I've not experienced any side effects!

Well, I was on the Depo shot for about 4 1/2 years, and it never made me anymore emotional than I was normally. The only side effects I noticed were the weight gain, and the missing period, that didn't return until I stopped taking the shot.

thats a new one, i never cried alot when i was on depo but everyone is different as you know. I bleed alot (which is why i stopped) and most ppl stop bleeding all together. good luck, and start working out, cause i gained hella weight with depo. when the doc tells you to watch what you eat because of hormones in shot, please listen.

Mood swings are one of the side affects of depo, and not the worst one either!

I had horrid mood swings among other affects and was on depo for four years. I am on Kariva (pill) now and a WHOLE LOT happier!

Yep I used to get really emotional on the shot. Also caused me to struggle with depression but definitely cried a ton. Needless to say I stopped taking it.

the dep. never affected my thoughts as quickly as i began it. you have submit-partum melancholy, and you're genuinely having themes in view which you lost your mom so quickly after having your infant. verify into getting counseling for all of it. you would be ok, you basically want an extremely good help equipment!

Maybe you should have your doctor check your hormone levels. Maybe it's raised yours too high?
