I'm black, but I have Bangladesh ancestry and I hope to visit there someday! I wish I could speak Bengali. Maybe someday I'll learn! LOL. It's funny because when I'm out with my father people from there (and India) often speak to us in Bengali (or other Indian languages). Once they see we don't speak the language, they ask where we're from and then they usually comment on our physical appearance being similar to those in their native country. I think the people are just BEAUTIFUL! I'm thankful to have such good genes! LOL! Sorry I couldn't answer your question. Thanks for letting me share.

The teens would get plenty of relatives and friends to talk and share their experience since in Bangladesh families are very close-knit in structures with sibling, parents and grandparents sometimes sharing same abode. This help greatly to develop strong personality if the environment is okay in that setting.
However, as the adage goes, familiarity breed contempt; these close knit family structures sometimes pervade privacy.
Apart from societal impact, the difference a teen will find between Bangladesh and USA is the variety of foods at cheaper prices that would cater for almost every taste bud!
If you are a kid from upper middle-class family then Bangladesh would be a very pleasant experience than USA. However, for middle-class and lower middle-class family the days are difficult due to inflation and its resultant higher cost of living.
Have a good stay in Bangladesh!

I'm a Bangladeshi and I've visited US for a while. I think everything is cheaper in Bangladesh. You may find some cultural activities fascinating, like Eid, Pohela Boishakh (bangla new year), Boi Mela (Book fair) etc. The family value system is much stronger in Bangladesh, people give time to their families, take care of each other. In US people are busy and they live in single families. People are really caring towards guests, people are less selfish.
Oh ya, good food as well.
If you come to Bangladesh for a short time, you will enjoy here.

Food, clothes are cheaper. We have many good restaurants specially in the Gulshan area that have nice Buffet. It is good for shopping specially if you go to malls like Bashundhara City and Rifle Square.I live in Dhaka,Bangladesh it is awfully overcrowded. I have lived in U.S for 7 years. The traffic jams in Dhaka give me a headache. Some places are not safe at night. Since you are living in the U.S I doubt whether you will like it here.

I love the riverine life, sometimes the lawlessness, the love/respect of all religions, the good food, the layed-back lifestyle, the occasional people flipping out (going mad), the millions...and millions of people, the snake charmers, and the beautifull people.
I also miss the poverty and the riding on train roofs. Joy Bangla.
USA does not compare with Bengal.
