I gotta say, my dog is lazy, he does nothing but bask in the sun all day, he likes walks and playing catch, but with him there's a time limit, he'll only play for so long as if he had better things to do ( like sleeping)
he wouldn't be able to guard our house from robbers because he would be busy sleeping
he wouldn't... even if he was awake come to think of it(he'd probably play dead...which looks like sleeping anyways)
but he manages to wake up for a few minutes, he won't move at all but I see his tail wagging as he looks up at me and I know he's glad to see me

I also have a cat, it's very active and attacks anybody that comes through the door ( at least me and a few other people anyways...it actually bitten my head....how the hell does a cat bite your head...it actually tried to devour my head!!!) damn evil cat, even when I pet it, it still wants more human flesh.(I said that like I'm talking about a monster...well in a way...I am)

...I love my dog....

.....I hate that cat.

I must admit that cats are extremely low maintenance...while a dog is not. But, the love of my dog is so honorable and precious to me that I could never forsake it. Sadie, my dog, is my choice.
