Lewis Terman (1916) developed the original notion of IQ and proposed the following scale for classifying IQ scores.

Over 140 Genious or near genious.
120 - 140 Very superior
110 - 119 superior
90 - 109 normal or average
80 - 89 dullness
70 - 79 borderline deficiency
Under 70 definite feeble mindness

Anything above a score of 100 is considered above average, since a score of 100 IS average. Now, about the person who posted that tickle.com offers pretty accurate scores - this is incorrect. There are two grading scales that IQ tests usually go by. The online tests are very general and vary in the number of questions they all have and the difficulty level. They all are scored differently. These are the reasons that taking an IQ test online is pointless. There is, however, one exception. The eCMA test on the International High IQ Society's web page is accurate. If you score above a 124 on the test, you are qualified to join the International High IQ Society. However, there is a cost, of course, to become a member. Tickle.com and other online IQ test sites would say that their tests could be used to get you into MENSA or other high-IQ societies if there was a guarantee that they were actually accurate...that's why none of them do. Hope this helps, though! ;-)
