in a bowl (he died a few months ago) but I remember one thing, sometimes there would always be a ton of these bubbles on top of the water next to the side of the bowl, did he make these?

Yes he did. That's a bubble nest that a male uses for breeding and to mark territory. It's usually a sign of a happy, healthy betta.

He built a bubble nest. When he couldn't find a female to mate with, he went into a world of sorrow and despair. That's not what killed him, though. Probably the ammonia or nitrite levels were too high.

yes your beta made those. they are called air bubbles. That's where the male beta puts the eggs from the female beta. (duh! like male lay eggs. :P) The male beta has more to do with the baby frys than the female. baby beta's gills aren't developed good enough at first so they stay in those air bubbles till they can use their gill. it also shows that ur beta is happy. The more bubbles the happier it is. :)

I wish i knew to.. mine also died awhile ago.. and had bubbles.. I would think though that if they made those bubbles they would pop like when we blow bubbles...hmm

Yea he made those.mine does the samething from time to time it is a bubble nest.

Yes! That was his bubble nest & it shows he was at least happy..........before you killed him.
