More is better. That being said, buying and installing 3rd party RAM from crucial, kingston, owc and others will be cheaper than letting Apple upgrade it for you. RAM is pretty cheap right now, $43 for 1 GB RAM for my model Mac laptop!

More memory is ALWAYS better, there is no such thing as too much memory. With prices so low now, theres no excuse not to max out Music an video is VERY Ramm intensive. P.S. I think it's funniny you say you'll be making movies "nothing too hard core though". I assume you meant the load on the computer, not the content of the video LOL!!!

more memory is always better. I have 2gb in my macbook pro, and it runs like a dream. If you're going to be using parallels to run windows then you'll definitely want at least 2gb

Here is a reputable "guaranteed" memory provider. Look up your system at http://www.coastmemory.com This will show what your computer came with, what it takes, and hot much it can take.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

The more memory you have, the better. Get the 2GB memory.

If money matters, why are you looking at a Mac? They cost more. You can get a faster machine for less money.
