I'm talking about his ODI and test centuries. He has got 41 ODI 100s and just made his 36th test 100 today. I hope no one does, but realistically, do you think these two records can ever be broken by anyone in the near future?

He is way ahead of any other player in terms of making centuries, and isn't due to retire just yet, well I hope not anyway.

HECK YEAH!! sachins the best . and those records really are unbreakable for a really long time and they will be unbroken for a long time too ....becuz trust me.....look at the odds....a batsman on the average scores maximum like 4-5 centuries a year in tests and like 3 in one days sometimes even less (he has to be like realy good and a class batsman of course e.g. ponting) and no one isnt even close to his one day centuries and whoever is close wont be playing until they reach 40 centuries. and the only person who can make that is a person who plays throughout his career excellently and thats got to be like a new player who starts playing in his 18s or 20s . and to go on to break that record may take them 10-15 yrs so what are the odds of them actually making those 41 ODI centuries and 36 test centuries......and dont forget....sachins not done yet ....he may meet 45 or 50 ODI centuries by the time he reties and prolly like 40-45 test centuries too....soooo its like another 10 - 15 yr lasting record......only person who can beat him in tests right now is ponting

No doubt Sachin enjoys the record for most centuries in Tests and ODIs(whether match winning knocks or not).If you would ask Sachin himself this question, he'd definitely say "Yes my records can be broken in the near future".Ponting for example is fast catching up. With high scoring ODIs and players going for quick runs in ODI, sometimes the same tactic is adopted in the Test matches and so making high scores in Test is all the more easier. We would love to see the same player break the two records of Sachin and only then would it be true performance and at the moment Ponting only looks like doing it.

While there is no one in sight anywhere near the 41 centuries scored by Sachin in ODI, Ricky Ponting has already scored 33 centuries in test cricket and he is still in the game. Hence no one can take it for granted at this stage that his record of centuries in Test Cricket cannot be surpassed. However, his record for ODI centuries will remain in tact.
i hope that sachin's record to be unbreakable!!

Ponting will definately break the test record but not so sure of the ODI record given that sub-continent teams play heaps more ODIs than Australia does.

However, given the way cricket is going, higher scores, better batting wickets, I think these records may be broken by numerous players.

Hey wait a minute....
Only one person has the possibility.
Seeing the current form of Ricky Pointing, everyone believes there is a competition ahead for Sachin . This is so because Ricky is only 32 years old and has atleast 4 more years of cricket in him. See the way he plays in the last 2 years. Awesome. Dont think Iam the supporter of Ricky.
No, I want Sachin to score 50 tons in both the format of the game.

For me it doesnt matter how many centuries a player made. It matters how many matches he won for the country. Regarding this Sachin has not done anything great. I am sorry to tell you that i dont like Sachin for not being able to win matches when it really needed.

Although Ponting is the next candidate, I would say give it a few years and Kevin Pietersen will be closing in as well.
