The Social Security Number is suppose to be used only for social security information. Why is the government using it for taxes, police tickets, medical records and everything else. You are not suppose to give this number for any reason. That the rules.

You are right. Now the Military used that number for everything in place of the old serial number. Not hard at all any more to get.

You are absolutely correct. The SS number is for governmental use. However, the government has been extremely lax in enforcing the law and let credits card companies and others get away with collecting this information. The sad thing about this is all the identity theft that has occurred that are attributed to these abuses.

Big Brother is watching you and so is every other entity that collects this information.

Actually the federal laws were changed to allow it to be used as you main identity number (credit, taxes, federal/state/local taxes, court cases, etc. It's not right, but the way the current federal law stands, it is allowed.

What you say it true. Just try and stop it. In Pennsylvania police have stopped using SS numbers on traffic accident reports and on traffic citations issued.

Your SS number does more than sor social security it is your identy in this day and age it identifies tom from dick and harry

Um, sorry but while that was the original purpose, the law say you LEGALLY MUST give your SSN for other purposes now.

For identification purposes. but really not supposed to be used for anything else
