I'm in my 40's, and can remember all the images of various American presidents, Democrat and Republican, stepping off of planes in foreign countries and being treated like heroes.
It made me proud that people respected our leaders and what we stood for..
I have never see such an event with Bush. Which makes me embarrassed. He is not welcomed anywhere. And what does that say about us?
Are we the most virtuous country, or just the one with the most bombs and force?
Seems like we need a "president" and not a cowboy/hick in the White House.
A basic command of the English language would be nice with our next leader also.
The "misunderestimated", "decider" has set this nation's prestige back 30 years at least.
Thanks allot Bush voters.

Reg.....Most people just want to go where they can get a better life. I know a few people who are looking to immigrate and have the US ranked 5th on their list of where to go.
Wake up and smell the coffee. There are allot of places better off than we are.

Blame the democrats. They have undermined every thing he has tried to accomplish. I am 44 and it is the first time in my history that the opposing party has spoken ill of a sitting president abroad while the country is at war. When the world sees that there is deep separation in our country they believe they can defeat us and you aid them.

Harley speaks rubbish.... As one who is presently in another country I can confirm verbatim what you have just said.
Bush is seen as all cowboy and no hat. The sad thing about his tenure is that it has blurred the hatred that people have for him with the feelings they have for Americans generally.
This is a President that cannot even visit England, our supposedly good allies. No other Sec of State during a STATE visit to the UK has been treated the way Condi Rice was. Plus one has to consider the impression that anyone who has never met an American would get by reading these pages here on Yahoo.... The interminable and idiotic Neocons bring shame on all of us.

Two people have answered that Americans don't give a damn what other countries think of them. They don't realize that this is why they don't like you. That, and the fact that American right-wingers don't think any other country is worth anything, other than a resource to dominate and exploit.
Other countries are never portrayed in any kind of positive way in American popular culture. American 'neocons' think their country is some kind of superior race.
I don't think that even one of them knows that in most of the developed world, the US is seen as something they do NOT want to devolve toward.

Because religious fanatics with nuclear weapons are always dangerous. I'm not talking about the Middle Eastern ones. I'm talking about the North American one. I am not joking when I say that our president is mentally ill, and the decisions of such a person have caused much resentment in the world.

If Americans are hated so much, why are we now trying to figure out what to do with 12 million illegal aliens already in the US? Do you know how many millions of people from all over the world who are trying to get to the US legally? I am in my 60's. For as long as I can remember people were saying the US was hated. Many years ago there was a book, then a movie, titled "The Ugly American." I personally don't care if anyone hates me or my country. Just don't mess with me. I think your comments are just plain goofy. I voted for Mr. Bush twice. Even to this day, I would not consider voting for Gore or Kerry.

Because Bush thinks he's president of the world. His policies have only led to more violence and chaos around the world.

If you ever lived outside the borders of the US, your're smart enough to know that anti-Americanism didn't start with Bush. It's just a bandwagon to hate the US, encouraged and assimilated by our "closest" allies, and it's because there's many bigoted, hateful people like you who constantly spew hatred at your fellow Americans and stereotype that whole region in your answers on this site.
People like you are the problem.

Don't blame me. What choice did I have in 04? Bush, a known factor, or Kerry, who ran pretty much on the message of "You hate Bush, so you have no choice but to vote for me!!" No, I don't have to. I will take the known versus the unknown any day of the week. It helps me plan my day better.

If you haven't noticed most American's don't care what other countries think of us. President Bush is a man of conviction, that is why people in other countries have a problem with him. I'm proud of this country!
