What about a wood burner? Not sure if that would be hot enough and precise enough for you.
When I was in highschool we made model airplanes out of styrofoam and we rigged up a metal line really tight and then heated it up (I forget how exactly but i know a battery charger was involved ha) but it got red hot and we moved the styrofoam around the line and it made the most acurate and precise cuts you could imagine.

If it's ONLY .002 inches, I'd use an Xacto knife !!

I do alot of work with sheet-styrene plastic in thicker sheets, and use a straight-edge and Xacto knife.

For Styrofoam, I use a "hot-wire" knife.

Good Luck !

They have deluxe woodburners at joann fabrics that have different attachments. One is shaped like an exacto knife I have never used this particular attachment but it's in the kit.

The tool is called a stencil cutter. You'll find it in the craft stores where they have the wood burning tools.

Or you could just heat up the X-acto knife. It doesn't take much--I use a small alcohol lamp.

Why would you use a hot knife for that thin of plastic? Wouldn't it melt it?
