Secondary school depends upon your state. In some states it's grades 7-12 in others it's grades 6-12.
Generally speaking a middle school is 6-7-8 with a 9-10-11-12 high school. Or a district may have a junior high that is usually configured 7-8, with a four year high school. Very seldom do you see the "old fashioned" 7-8-9 junior high and 10-11-12 senior high.

A secondary school refers to a school after elementary school. Depending on the area, it can begin as early as fourth grade or as late as seventh grade. Typical school types include intermediate school, middle school, junior high school, senior high school, and high school. The teachers tend to have a specialized teacher certification (social studies, mathematics, english, science, etc.) than in elementary school.

It depends which country you are looking at. In the UK it is a school that takes children from 11yrs to 18yrs. In a lot of other European countries, such as Spain and Germany I think they take children from 12 to 16. I don't know about Central America.
