I just put a few movie posters on Ebay for auction. One in particular I have listed for $10.00 as a starting bid with $8.00 for shipping and handling. Someone just e-mailed me concerning the poster and offered me $40.00 in total to end the auction. I don't know what my options are, I plan on selling more on Ebay and don't want to start off with any strikes against me. Is there some way I can accept this offer and end the auction while still collecting payment through paypal or should I just tell the person no and let the auction carry on?

What if I cancel the auction and wait until I receive his payment through paypal (through the actual website, not Ebay) and then send the poster? I have no bids on the item yet, just 3 watchers, and I researched what the poster has been sold for, it's gone for around 10 bucks. I have to respond to his question and figured this would be a win win situation-if I don't get his payment through paypal I'll relist the poster...

You can change the auction and add a "buy it now" option for $32 so that you can keep the sale with ebay and allow the person to buy it at a price of $40 total. Doing this you can completely follow ebay's rules and be able to finish the transaction through ebay just in case the buyer doesnt pay.

I would be asking why? Why would an offer that early be given to you? Answer.. its probably worth more, just a guess but then its your poster. Unless you had best offer as an option I would let the thing run.. the person will put in a bid if they want it. Check ebay rules for ending early.. if the bid is not handled through ebay you can get shafted by the offer.

No, you have to wait until the auction is over, unless you listed it as "buy it now for" that amount. That's good though, maybe someone will outbid the $40.00 and you'll make more money!!!!!! So you need to tell them that they must wait until the auction is over!!!

why not just make another auction for the same poster
and let him buy that one.

Ebay does have an option for best offer
you can use that with your auctions if that helps
