The main thing is do extremely well in your math and science classes. Nursing requires a strong background in math and science to be successful. Recommended courses are anatomy, biology, chemistry, algebra 1/algebra 2 track for four years), foreign language (minimum of two years), and psychology. I am including some readings which should help.

Registered Nurse. It depends on WHERE in Texas that you live! Just saying you live in Texas is no where near enough information! Texas is a very big state! Look up the colleges in your area, you should know about the ones close to you. Look them up online, and see what majors that they offer. If they offer Nursing, then it's for becoming a Registered Nurse. Very easily done search!

Maybe you could become a trainer. At least that is what we called them. they were students who helped out the trainers who took care of the sport teams. They would tape up football players ankles and stuff like that. That would be good. And I have to say, that is a very good field to go in. There will always be a need for nurses in the US. If you look at other types of jobs, a lot of them get outsourced to other countries due to cheap labor. And speaking of labor, rn's make really good money from what I hear.

Each school has different requirements, and it depends if you are doing an associates or bachelors. But here are the basics most school require.
High GPA in science classes. Nutrition, algebra, psychology, lifespan growth and dvt, A&P 1 &2, microbiology, chemistry, history, govt,pe class, biology, eng comp1 &2, speech, intro to computers, technical report writting, statistics.
Also go talk to the couselors of the schools you might be interested in, or look at their requirements.

Any science courses will definitely help, especially Anatomy and Physiology. Also some math and possibly a psychology class if its offered. You'll still have to take these courses in college, but you'll be a step ahead if you've already got a good background in them.

Also, if you have a good guidance counselor, talk to them. They will be able to point you in the right direction.
