They want out of the private life, but into the bedroom. The courts have upheald that abortion is a medical procedure of which they have no right to interfere. Therefore they have stated that it is not murder. After a Republican controlled legislation for the last 6 years and Bush in the office, the time was set for anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage, yet we still have it. It's interesting isn't it?
These morality issues are just smoke screens so we focus away from the real issues.

Because some people thing that babies should have rights before they are born. If you believe that a fetus is a living organism, then you believe that it has rights. If you believe that a fetus is no more than a tumor, you think it doesn't.

its because they are following the wishes of their constituencies(hopefully) and their constituencies are against abortion, but don't want the government to take their guns away. It is hypocrisy, but they are more concerned with keeping their jobs than being consistent.

Simple, they believe that a fetus (unborn child) is an individual human life that deserves equal protection under the law. There is no hypocrisy here.

they are out of your private lives, the baby, has its own DNA, the baby is an individual, and NOT by definition part of your body. the government seeks the equality of all people.
