Other than walking, Greyhound or another bus service is probably the cheapest, unless you can find a rideshare.

Since UConn's in Storrs, you might be able to find someone heading that way if you know people there. Likewise, if you know some friends in Boston who are in school, you might be able to hitch a ride that way as well.

After that, it gets a little tougher as most trains go south. But here's the link to Amtrak (It was about $85 when I checked)

On busses, other than Greyhound, GOTObus goes between Boston and Hartford (Storrs is enroute) and that's like $15 (can probably drop you off at the closest exit. Here's their link.

Hope that helps!

Bus - check the websites for Peter Pan and Greyhound. There might be other buses, too. I highly doubt, though, that there are any buses that go directly from Boston to Storrs.

Do you have to fly in to Boston? I would look into flying in to Providence or Hartford (Bradley International Airport), or even Worcester, MA. All of those are significantly closer to Storrs than Boston is.
