Like... on movies and such, after every sentence, when someone is reading a telegram, they say "stop" after every sentence... Why?

Because telegrams were sent in morris code. There is no morris code for the "period" and therefore they sent "stop" to indicate the end of a sentence

Because when it's being read to the guy sending the message, you can't tell where the sentences end. The "stop" is the verbal equivalent of a period.
