Boot to safe mode. Choose Admin, hopfully there is no password. Then as admin, create a new account that has admipriveledges. Then reboot, you will be able to log on to the "new" account, then bow out all the old users

The best option here is to reset your account password. You can do this using either 1 of the 2 methods suggested by Microsoft Knowledge Base article #321305. In my opinion, the second method described here is most likely the easiest route:

Reboot Windows in Safe Mode.

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2

Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.

Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Good luck!

Side note: To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

Try going into safe mode (F8 key before WinXP boots). Try to select administrator. If no password is required, go to the control panel and select "users" and change the password to something that you know. Then restart the computer and use the new password.

In the user name box type Administrator and leave the password blank. If there is not a place to type in a user name then you can either reinstall windows if you have the disc or try using this program. http://www.loginrecovery.com/

Ask the person, you bought it from, to tell you the password. You will need it to reinstall the OS.

Without it, you will need to reformat the hard drive.
