A standard Windows XP installation already has a whole bunch of programs installed on it. As you work on the computer you add programs as you go, so there is no real answer to this question.

MANY mfgrs give you a ton of hat we call "BLOATWARE" when you first buy a computer. If you have a PC i will already include a word processsor, intrnet browser and a media player. You will almost always get an antivirus program, adobe reader, outlook express (or winmail). You probably get and want to uninstall google desktop, those cheap and cheesy free games, internet isp offers, AOHell, and any of those cheesy propriatary programs like otto, viewpoint, wildtangent, etc.

What kinda conputer?
Dell comes with programs to assist new users. Compaq from Hewlett-Packard (HP) does also. A clone may or may not come with extras. Some retailers will give you a whole bunch of programs to help them in selling the comp. (Crap programs like Microsoft Money & such, thay you may never use). So, I suppose the answer is:' What kinda retailer are you buying from???
