my mother used to sing that, and when I was younger, I was convinced she made it up just to drive me nuts. I seriously didn't believe her that it was a real song, until I saw the sheet music, and saw what the real words were! I truly thought it was "maresy doats"!!!!

If the words sound queer, and funny to your ear, a little bit jumbled and jivey, sing "mare's eat oats and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy.
