Better left to a professional cowboy hat cleaner like http://www.jhhatco.com/new/Hat_Renovations/Cleaning_Repair_Renovation.htm

Surface Cleaning - A "light cleaning," a dry scrubbing of surface dirt. Soaked stains and difficult surface stains require a deep cleaning.

Deep Cleaning - A "heavy cleaning," a wet, chemical cleaning down into the fur felt. Removes most surface dirt and embedded stains, although some old and stubborn stains may not entirely disappear.

Get a bowl of warm water & dish soap.... and a clean cloth. Dip you cloth in the water, ring it out well so its just damp..... lightly rub the hat with the damp cloth .... that's pretty much the only way to clean them without losing the shape or destroying the hat.

Go to the store you bought it if its really expensive, theyll have the right cleaning supplies. If not use warm water and soft brush to scrub in lightly, dont soak it though if its more of a show hat.

i would actually turn on the shower really hot so that the bathroom will be steamy and put your hat in the bathroom (but not in the shower!) so that it can get moist, but not wet. that may help a little bit.

sorry i couldnt help more :(
