It is great exercise for many people. It's not going to build your muscle mass or give you an aerobic workout but it will keep your body in good working shape and it's one of the few exercises that most people can do for long periods of time. It's highly recommended that if you haven't been exercising at all that you start with walking because your body will get too sore if you start with something more strenuous. When you are 80, it is likely to be the exercise which keeps you out of a nursing home.

Yes,, and it makes a difference in how we do it. A leisurely stroll is better than sitting in a chair. But a power walk with some speed is far better exercise than a stroll.

its a excellent exercise you burn 100 calories per mile and it tones abdominals,hips,thighs and ur buttocks. If you walk with wrist weights u can get a upper body workout too but u have to keep ur hands up by ur waist.
