If you use VmWare you can boot both operating systems at the same time, but I dont think you will make anytype of connections between the two OS's.

Yes !!

You can do it !! You can have both operating system running at the same time on the same computer.

Try VMware ! You can install it either on windows or on linux. But once it's started you can boot both OS's at the same time and switch from one to another with a special combination of keystrokes.

You can even create a "virtual LAN" connecting the Linux to your Vista :)

With just a dual booting setup you can choose between operating systems, but not run both at once. The only way to run more than one os at once would be to use virtualization software. This software allows you to run two or more separtate os instances at the same time. It's generally used for fairly sophisticated server/development platforms and it's failry specialist. If it's really important you could try something like VMWare (www.vmware.com/products/ws/). They're well known, but I can't say I've ever used it.

If you want to use windows programs in Linux you can use an emulator like Wine (Short for Windows Emulator)

or you can use a Virtual Machine to run Windows on your Linux system like Win4Lin and VMware.

No, you can't run them both at once, unless you have one in a virtual machine of the other (google for Microsoft VirtualPC)
