My 4 week old is sleeping 6-8 hours through the night, should I be waking her up to feed or is it okay for her to sleep through it. I am wondering if this is the reason she is like starving during the day and drinks like 4 oz every 2 hours or so.

I would say that it depends on how big she is. My four week old was only 6 lbs. 8 oz. and she would wake up every 3-4 hours anyway for her feeding and still eat like there was no tomorrow during the day. If your baby is bigger let her sleep. Be thankful. she may be eating like that during the day so that she can give you that nice long break at night. My daughter is now four months old and doing that....My only suggestion is to give your baby 1-2 more ounces during a feeding and she'll probably not be so hungry. And, as my mother said when I had my son, "put a little cereal in the bottle...it helps fill their tummies so they're not so hungry." My mom and a lot of other "old schoolers" don't necessarily follow what these "new" schooled doctors say...after all, millions of us are still here and doing just fine. But, it sounds like you're doing just fine...let her sleep and maybe give her one or two more ounces per feeding and she'll be fine....my pediatrician says that a baby needs 2 1/2 ounces times her body weight of formula per day, so an eight pounder needs about 20 ounces of formula per day. Hope this helps and good luck!!!!

I would NEVER EVER wake a sleeping baby. My baby was the same way at that age. She ate that much after she woke up also. Let her sleep and enjoy it. When she wakes up give her as much as she wants to eat. I did that with my baby and shes now 3 months old and has been sleeping 10-12 hours a night and I still don't wake her up to feed her. She's as healthy as can be. Your baby will wake up when she's hungry thats one reason why her sleep varies from 6-8 hours. Although I have to say it does worry my husband also. So your not alone. Hope this helped.

I would not wake up a sleeping baby to feed. She is getting enough food during the day to allow her to sleep through the night...or at least 6 - 8 hours. She would wake up if she was hungry!

I know they say never wake a sleeping baby, but I would check with your pediatrician. They can go by her weight and growth so far and how much she is eating per day. My baby did go for a slightly longer stretch at night and I remember being nervous too that she should be waking up and wanting to eat, but the Dr. was fine with her weight and the amount she was eating. 4oz for a feeding is a lot so maybe she is just making up for the lost feedings during the day.

No let her sleep.I have never woke either of my babies up to feed. They will wake up when they are hungry. The only reason you should think of waking her to feed is if she was a preemie. My son eats 8-10 oz every 2 hours and is on baby food and baby cereal.

You should always consult your doctor about such questions because it might depend on your pregnancy (was she a preemie?), her current weight and weight progress (is she gaining consistently?), and other factors. Nursed babies should not sleep 8 hours without eating but it sounds like you are using a bottle since you know the oz. She'll probably be fine but do check with your doc.

Assuming that this is trustworthy and you're purely no longer bragging approximately your different 2 toddlers, then all I could desire to assert is fortunate you. you purely ever had to handle new child behaviour as quickly as out of thrice. he's not combating mid eating. Many youthful toddlers don;t devour for terribly long. he's finished, he went to sleep. It regularly occurring for toddlers to devour each 2 hours for a protracted whilst. If he wasn't finished, he easily could've persisted eating. some human beings devour huge nutrients, some human beings graze. toddlers are an identical, besides the actuality that many times they elect to graze greater, extremely while they're newborns and their abdomen is the dimensions of a raisin. He keeps to be asleep for 5 hours because of the fact he's moving the two interior the vehicle or the stroller. he did an identical ingredient while he replaced into interior you. for this reason why toddlers without notice kick you once you pass to sleep.

The way I see it is if the baby is sleeping leave him. During the day offer him a larger amount of milk/formula at a feeding. Try six ounces per feeding and see if that satisfies him longer. Hope that helps

My eldest son slept from 11pm ish until 6/7am ish from about a week old and the midwife did say he wasn't gaining enough weight and I should maybe wake him but I think it defies common sense to be honest!! He had enough food during the day and was healthy and happy so I left him and he was fine!! Not that I'm suggesting to ignore midwifes/health visitors but I think mother knows best!!

If the Health Visitor is happy with her weight then just go with what she wants to do...make the most of it. Keep giving her her feeds during the day and reep the benefits at night. Good girl....hope it lasts.
