The main starting points of World War II are generally held to be the German invasion of Poland, as well as the Japanese attacks on China, the United States, and the British and Dutch colonies. All of the attacks resulted from the leadership of authoritarian ruling elites in Germany and Japan. World War II began after these acts of aggression were met with an official declaration of war or armed resistance

the military aggression in Europe came from Germany, but it was not totally Hitler's fault because at the time the rest of the European powers (Britain and France) were following the policy of appeasement, and if there were no consequences for sticking ur hand in the Cookie jar you would keep doing it right? and in fact France and Britain gave into his demands, Russia on the other hand had signed a non aggression pact with Germany (which was broken when Germany invaded Poland, that was September 1st 1939, and started the war) before the invasion of Poland, Germany did other things like invading and taking back the "neutral" Rhineland (area between Germany and France that was supposed to remain unoccupied by any military arms after WWI) and also, i believe it was what is now Czechoslovakia that he took over. any way, Hitler would not have been able to do this if it had not been for appeasement because he started out small and tested the waters and when no one stopped him he went for it all. oh and i forgot to mention italy (leader= mussolini), who was allied with germany and japan to form the axis powers, they were called the soft underbelly because it was through there near the end of the war that the Allies went to get to Germany.

the military agression from asia was of course from japan, who like i said was allied with germany and they were mostly contained to the pacific, where they were taking over a lot of the islands, but when on December 7, 1941 they bombed the U.S. navel base at pearl harbor they were said to have awoken the "sleeping giant" when they got us involved in the war. tojo was the military leader and had all the real power while herohito the emporer had none.

Hitler's unprovoked invasion of Poland, neutral Holland and Belgium and attack on France. Japan has a long list, including the sneak attack on Pearl.

The question is not clear enough? You wanted to ask who began the WWII?
