Massive rearrangement of the Map of Europe, millions dead, development of aircraft as offensive weapons, increased status for women, America's status as a World Power verified, the rise of the proletariate in Russia leading to a new definition for Communism, development of the submarine as an offensive weapon, inspiration for songs & books & movies.

An economic slump throughout Europe for one thing. Also, the great empired of the 19th centure were utterly decimated. Europe is now divided into many many many countries based on ethnicity. I guess you could also say that an effect was the rise to power of dictators. People were so desperate, they would accecpt anything. So is WW1 the cause of WW2...? Thats up to you to figure out...

The Treaty of Versilles is a good thing to look at it made germany pay like 6 billion dollars and take responsibility for the war. They also had to give up all land they took. This was also the rise of dictators.
