One of my favorites to do with the kids involves

eggs
contruction paper
glue (something non-toxic obviously)
hole puncher

So I take a needle and poke small holes at each end of the egg, making one hole a little bigger that the other then i shake up the egg and rinse off the egg with a lil soap (I don't want salmonella) then I blow the guts outta the egg. Once I have just a shell, I run some water in through the egg and make sure it clean, set it aside to dry and join the kids at the table.

While we wait on the eggs to dry we punch out different colored circles out of the construction paper and talk about what animal we are gunna make (I almost always make a pig...I dunno why) .

Then grab the eggs and glue paper dots on them. Add pipe cleaners for tail or hair, use little contruction paper strips for feet. Essentially we make weeble wobbles outta eggs.

If the girl is interested in polymer clay, this page at my site has loads of lessons on making all kinds of things with it (or with air-dry type clays too):
