I am a huge fan of LOST, and my best friend is pretty much a LOST guru, so I think we may be able to help you out a bit.

First off, the guy who deserted his people, aka the DHARMA Initiative, is Benjamin Linus. He deserted his people because he believed that they were not able to coexist peacefully with the original inhabitants, so he, along with many other of the original inhabitants, killed (almost) all of the DHARMA, including his own father.

Next, the old guy he took to the house is named John Locke. Ben took Locke to the house (which we will talk about in a minute) because he believes he is "special" in some way because when he crashed onto the island, he no longer needed a wheelchair (he was paralyzed after his father pushed him out of an 8 story building).

The house that Ben took Locke to is the house of the mysterious leader of the Others known as Jacob. According to Ben, only he recieves instructions from Jacob as only he is worthy of seeing Jacob. However, when the two reach the house, it appears empty. After Locke begins to leave, however, he hears a dark voice utter the words "Help me...", followed by the near destruction of the house.

As for the babies and Sun, we are not quite sure yet why exactly the Others want the babies, but Sun must die because any women who became (becomes) pregnant on the Island eventually dies for unknown reasons (unknown even to the Others) about 4 months in.

No, no, no, no, no. The producers are constantly recieving this question, and they are constantly disproving it. The island is NOT Hell, nor is it purgatory. However, this theory is looking pretty good at this point after Naomi Dorrit, the woman who crased onto the Island via parachute about 3 episodes ago, told the "Losties" that the remains of the plane were found with no survivors. Another one of the countless unanswered questions on LOST, but sure enough, it will be answered soon.

Finally, yes. The show will only last 48 more episodes, aka 3 seasons of 16 episodes. The producers also said that in the Season Finale, which airs this Wednesday, the viewers will find out WHY the show can only last this much longer.

Well, I hope I was able to clear up some of the questions you had, and I hope you continue to enjoy LOST. On behalf of the DeGroots, Alvar Hanso, and all of us here at the DHARMA Initiative, thank you, Namaste, and Good Luck.

they want the pregnant women, hoping to find one that can breed sucessfully, since all the women that get pregnant on the island, all die. Ben's little group of people will die out if they cant find ways of populating , and that was Juliets main job, as an ob-gyn, was to find the answers and to fix it. I believe the REAL others are ghosts. They dress all raddedy and don't leave footprints and appear at will and they are the whispers you hear in the jungle when you don't see anyone. Ben and his group are just people. My opinion.

A good website to answer your questions about all things related to lost is www.lostpedia.com. They have detailed information about anything you have questions about. But the answer before mine is pretty good.
