ok, if i let my bettas mate what will i do with the babies? how many babis will they have? my friend either have a pet or they cant have a pet.
what do i do?!?!

If you don't have any thing to do with the babies, just don't breed them, it's as simple as that. If you really want to breed bettas, get bettas that you can more easily sell. Join the International Betta Congress and buy breeding stock from a member of that group. You will have far superior bettas and many shops will be much more interested in buying them from you.
Generally by the time you have the typical deaths associated with weak or deformed fish and then you cull out the bad looking ones you generally have about 30-50 bettas left from each spawn. They start off much larger though, usually around 200.

you can typically expect anywhere between 10 and 40. ask local pet stores if they purchase bettas. one fun thing you can do is keep all the brothers in one big tank -- they live together peacefully sometimes and will amaze your friends. be ready to separate any fighters though.

Your bettas can have up to 500 fry, most of which will not survive, if any, unless you take the proper care.
If you have to ask what you'll do with the babies, breeding them probably isn't a good idea. And if you must breed bettas, please, please, PLEASE, PLEASE don't breed veiltails. Hundreds, if not thousands, die every day in petstores because nobody wants them. Crowntails are also becoming less popular. There are already so many bettas in the world that to breed petstore-type would be pointless.
