I believe he is the best ever but alot people say Karl Malone is. Get this:
Malone-19 seasons played
51% FG percentage
25 points per game
10.1 rebounds per game
3.6 assists per game
.7 blocks per game
2 time NBA MVP
11 time All-NBA First Team
3 time All-NBA Defensive First Team
14 time All-Star
0 Championship Rings
Duncan- 10 seasons
50% FG percentage
21.8 points per game
11.9 rebounds per game
3.2 assists per game
2.4 blocks per game
2 time NBA MVP
3 time NBA FINALS MVP
10 time All-NBA First Team
10 time All-NBA Defensive First Team
9 time All-Star (the only year he didn't make all star team he was injured the first half of that year.)
3 Championship Rings.
Duncan has made All-NBA team every year he has played and All-NBA defensive team every year he has played. He has 3 NBA Finals MVP's. Give Duncan 9 more years of the kinda ball he plays and he will dominate "The Mailman."
Anybody else have a nominee? Or do you agree with Duncan or Malone?

Larry Bird only played PF in desperate situations. Remeber Parrish at center and McHale at PF. Think about it.

BDOUBLE is on crack.........Malone is better because he was more fun to watch? Are you serious? Give me a break. More accomplishments? Come on. What did Malone accomplish that Dunacn hasn't and then some.

RIDE THE LIGHTNING - Championship rings do matter when you are the "one" who led your team to the title. The Spurs wouldn't have won any titles if Duncan wasn't on those squads. Barkley was great. You say because of Barkley's size that makes him better than Duncan. You don't factor in size. You factor in production. How many times did Barkley give up points by getting T'd up? Alot. How many rings did Barkley "lead" his squad to? NONE!
Malone was better than Barkley.

CELTICPAL - Nobody has more unstoppable post moves than Duncan...PERIOD! The spin move that Duncan has, the majority of guards in the league can't do that. Who can use the board as successful as Duncan........nobody!

Great question. I think Larry Bird is the greatest, but I'll go with this comparison of Duncan and Malone.
Results count. That's the nature of sport. Tim Duncan has the results. He also is an undeniably talented, technically amazing player. Karl Malone lacked the control, both physical and personally (Tim Duncan is a great sportsman) that Duncan has.
All in all, a W is a W, and three rings basically makes Duncan's case. I realize that this system also gives Darko an edge on Malone, but come on, be reasonable. Duncan is a major contributor to every ring he's got. He earned them. Malone couldn't.

Charles Barkley is the best PF ever.
.541 FG%
.735 FT%
11.70 RPG
4.0 APG
1.54 SPG
.83 BPG
22.1 PPG
And on top of that, he was 6'6" (half a foot shorter than Duncan). Could Tim Duncan be the player if he is if he was the height of a SG (like Barkley)? Of course not, he uses his height to his advantage. So, he's not all skill like Barkley; his size does alot for him as well. I understand that you can't make size a factor in determining who's better, but you have to give Barkley some extra credit for being a 6'6" PF with those kinds of stats. Aside from the stats, the other thing that makes Barkley better is his ability to play multiple positions. He could shoot the ball, rebound, pass, etc. . .He wasn't amazing at it but he was consistent. He could do alot.
Why should personal awards matter when determining who's better? IMHO, I don't think that they should. A championship ring doesn't make a player great. An MVP award doesn't make a player great. There are players like Tyronne Lue who have a championship ring, who are bums. There are coaches like Jerry Sloane who've never been coaches of the year, even though they're legends. So, awards are vain. They don't determine a players level of greatness at all.
'Give Duncan 9 more years of the kinda ball he plays and he will dominate "The Mailman."'
Tim Duncan is a stiff (respectively). He won't be able to handle 9 more years. He's just too slow and he's not nearly as explosive and powerful as Karl Malone was. With that being said, once time does its thing, Tim Duncan will be wayyy to slow to play the way he's played his entire career. He'll either retire by the time he's 35, OR play crappy basketball.

Not counting Larry Bird as a power forward, although he played that position early in his career, the top power forwards of all time are:
- Tim Duncan
- Bob Pettit
- Karl Malone
- Kevin McHale
Rank them however you please, and you won't hear me complaining. Some wouldn't put McHale here but consider this: in 1987, he shot 0.604 from the field and 0.836 from the line (the only player to hit 60%FGs and 80%FTs), and averaged 26.1ppg and 9.9rpg, with Bird dominating the ball. The following year, he again shot 0.604from the field and 0.797 from the line. And don't forget that he had more unstoppable moves in the post than Duncan, Malone and Pettit combined.

Spurs was nothing before Tim Duncan. Since Duncan joined them in '97, San Antonio Spurs is now the winningest prefessional sports team (yes, all sports) in the U.S. I think thats a good reason enough to say that he is the best EVER! Did I mention that he had 2 league MVPs and 3 Finals MVP??? And even after 10 years in the league, he is still dominating!

Duncan will pass all of Malone's records in 4 years. And with a lot fewer fouls, and without knocking anyone unconscious the way Malone did David Robinson.

Duncan is the best currently in the NBA. He is not the best all time. Malone is because he was more fun to watch and his accomplishments, at least in my book, are more impressive. Duncan may have 3 rings, but that is becuase he is playing in an Era of basketball that does not even compare to the good old days of Malone, stockton, Jordan, Rodman, Wilkens,Pippen ect.
But Duncan is the closest it comes to Malone.

I'd say Tim Duncan. However, its too early to compar them. Wait until Duncan is near the end of his career and everything is all said in done. In my opinion, Tim Duncan will, at that time, be unquestionably the best.
