Even if you don't like Carter, the bulk of the world seems to agree. How could any fair-minded person dismiss this GLOBAL opinion of this administration?

Carter's right of course and I agree with him. I'm an old lady of 50 and been around to see a few Presidents. I've never seen a President so clueless when it comes to foreign relations. In six years he has managed to hurt relations with every one of our Allies, and increase the size of the Al Queda base with his actions in Iraq. He's like the proverbial bull in a china shop. He ignored the provision in the resolution that Congress passed that required him to exhaust all diplomacy before attacking Iraq. I used to think it was because he was just so eager and obsessed he couldn't wait, but lately I've come to think it was because he just didn't have the skills to employ diplomacy from the beginning.

You are right of course, fair minded people with critical thinking skills would be unable to deny this, but how many Bushies do you think fit that category? They will defend his incompetence until a Democratic President finally takes over and begins to repair the damage. Then they'll just make themselves busy spreading b.s. about the new President.

It is very clear that Bush's actions have caused a seismic shift in our approval ratings all over the world. The rest of the world is waiting, just as we are, holding our breath until January 20, 2009 gets here. Maybe then we can begin to repair the damage he has caused to our country around the world.

EDIT: And why did so many ignore the main thrust of your question in favor of trashing Carter? Three guesses and the first two don't count.

So Carter was not a great president. He has done great things with his life, and he did the office of President of the United States no harm.

Reagan and Bush-redux are the only administrations (ever) to have high ranking White House officials convicted of committing felony crimes from inside the Oval Office. Reagan destroyed whatever regal nature remained to holding the office by showing that any idiot who never had an original thought in their entire life could become president, while Junior managed to destroy the nation’s influence, standing, and reputation after inheriting from Bill Clinton an America that was the most respected and admired nation in history.

History may not recall Carter as a great President (although it will rightly note that he and Clinton tried harder, and came closer, to solving the endemic strife of the Middle East than anyone else), but that will be preferable to Reagan’s and Bush’s prominent positions in history’s Hall of Shame. When the body counts are finally tallied, both will be remembered as criminal mass murderers and morons.

America’s Founding Fathers were most concerned that, eventually, an uninformed and poorly-educated public would elect political leaders even more stupid, selfish, and greedy than themselves; and by this action destroy their ‘Grand Experiment’, the democratic republic established by the US Constitution. Reagan and Bush are the Founding Father’s nightmare; and the greatest threat to America is the American people, themselves.

I'd listen to anyone except Carter who almost everyone agrees was a failure as a president but makes a dandy ex. I do think Bush has been a poor president and now giving amnesty to the hords of invaders.

If you study the history of Jimmy Carter's presidency and subsequent humanitarian causes you will find that he is a very decent and honorable human being who has done more to advance peace and justice in this world than any other person in office. If he says Bush is the worst ever then it must be true.
Perhaps if other reasonalbe people in this world knew what an outstanding person Jimmy Carter is there would be no doubt in anyones mind that Bush and his cronies must be impeached and put on trial for their countless "high crimes and misdemeanors".

I think to get an objective answer you should first investigate the Carter Administration and the job he did in terms of both foreign and domestic policy. I don't dismiss the GLOBAL opinion of the administration but I do take into account the morals and ethics that a vast majority of GLOBAL countries who criticize this administration lack.

Most of them have GLOBAL investments tied up to various GLOBAL outfits who want nothing more than to bring about the destruction of this country.

I think any fair-minded person couldn't dismiss the fact that this administration wants nothing more than the safety and security for the American public. The administration has made choices and acted in certain ways in which it thinks will bring about the most safety and security and like them or not you have to admit they think they are correct and they stick by their choices. There's something to be said of a politician who doesn't wake up every morning and check the latest polls to make sure they are thinking or saying what's popular at the moment.

The American public has a long history of being easily swayed into going along with something regardless of the facts, whichever side's opinion is the loudest that's which one receives the most credentials.

If you look back into the history books you'll see this country has a lonnnnnnng history as being one of the least like countries in the world, regardless of a party or president in power. People don't like us. They don't like what we stand for, they don't like our free markets, they don't like that women have rights, they don't like capitalism, they don't like our values or principles.

But then again I've never been worried about what other people think. As long as we remain a free society with a chance every 4 years to hold free elections then we always have a balance of power and we'll always be hated and viewed lowly globally... but I'm ok with that.

He won a Nobel Peace Prize for something similar, so I would say he is pretty much an expert in dealing with foreign relations, even if he was not considered to be a very good president.

Carter, the first U.S. president to be born in a hospital. He's a has been. He was a lousy president and a lousy military leader. Now suddenly we should care what he says? And as for the rest of the world... Most thought Hitler was a great guy. Hell, even Time magazine voted him Man of The Year. And the world agreed. Maybe, given the opportunity, he'll invite another ruthless deposed dictator to come live here!

I don't need Jimmy Carter to tell me what the rest of the world already knows, but is too fearful to say.
