start your car and after it is running take the positive side of your battery off and if it dies than you alternator is bad.

Just like #3 guy says. Start the car and unhook your batteries. If it dies the alternator is bad... If I were you, Un hook the negative (ground cable) instead of the positive that was suggested by # 3 guy. Once the - is disconnected, just hold it or don't touch nothing to it (no complete ground)... Unhooking the + cable is okey,but it is more dangerous than the one I suggested...

Well it won't charge your battery, and when you drive the car will just quit. Notice if the light comes on when you have the radio or cd player on.

Have a local mechanic put it on one of those small portable machines. Take two minutes to evaluate it.

DON"T disconnect battery, it could blow out the computer. take it to AutoZone or Krakens and have them do a FREE battery check. it will tell you if alt is bad also. they can check it also if you take it off and take it in.
