If global warming has the potential to end life as we know it, does it make sense to ignore it on the basis that Mother Nature " will take care of everything? In drought areas, we create irrigation; to combat extreme cold we invented heating; to protect against floods we build levees; when it rains we take an umbrella. Isn't there at least some common sense in the investigation of global warming

By the way, "mother nature" doesn't pollute our air and water, we do. And we can and have taken steps to correct the problem

'Mother nature' may just decide that WE are the problem and take us out of the equation. Maybe if we take steps to do something that will really help, we won't go the way of the dodo bird, the sabre tooth tiger, the passenger pigeon, the woolly mammoth, dinosaurs, trilobites, aurochs, quagga, etc. etc. etc.

The sky is falling!

30 years ago the same scientists that are insisting today that we have Global Warming were proclaiming that we were entering into the next Ice Age. Don't believe me?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling
http://illconsidered.blogspot.com/2006/02/they-predicted-cooling-in-1970s.html

Weather is cyclical.... meaning there is a natural ebb and flow in regards to climate... if there is Global Warming why was this past April one of the coolest on record?

Have we all forgotten that this earth we live on at it's very core contains molten LAVA??????

Even if we did everything Al Gore insisted we did to deter warming it would only lower the core temperature 0.01 degrees? Hardly changing anything.

Should we reduce our dependency on oil? Certainly! Should we try and save water and other resources of course? But this scare tactic isn't going to solve anything let alone "Global Warming".

In the 1970s, we were all told the polluting would block the sun light & the tempature would fall & the Earth would free.
Now 30 years later pollution will make us burn as tempature rises.
This "concensus" science is stupid. A concensus of scientists agree on both & a "concensus of scientists agreed that the world was flat but they could not make it flat.

I agree in trying to slow poluttion but global warming has picked up media & liberal thinking to the point that "facts"
are being made up & need little or no factual basis. Forget total trust of Mother Nature but dump global warming until real proof can be shown. Al Gore & celebs do not count - scientists from unknown universities publishes outlandishes unproven claims do not help but harm the cause.

Concerned..... yes. Chicken Littled to surrendering our freedoms and sovereignty through treaties to some elitist governing power...NO!
Global Warming is happening.... has been happening form the last Ice age.... and will continue to happen until the cycle completes itself in another Ice age. There is nothing we can do to stop it. If everyone on the Planet quit using fossil fuels totally it *may* delay the warming by a few decades. That's "*MIGHT*" delay... no guarantees. The cost would be trillions of dollars and perhaps billions of lives lost. And for what? So Al Gore can Jet around shilling his movie? No thank you!

I still remember the seventies. We were all told two things. First, that we ARE headed for another ice age. And Second, that the world's supply of oil has run out.
I live in Florida. Normally, I HAVE to keep my air conditioner cranked on. This year, I haven't run it yet! So much for the "experts" and Al "my followers don't know how to punch holes in paper!" Gore.

Of course we should all be concerned about global warming--it's absurd to think that we human beings are are having no significant effect upon this whatsoever. The people who seem to think that we are totally blameless are those who just don't want to have to change any aspect of their behavior at all that could be contributing to global warming (GASP! Change? Who, ME??)
And as for Mother Nature--well, she's totally indifferent about what might happen to us or any other living thing. Mother Nature isn't going to "take care of" us human beings any more than she took care of the dinosaurs or any other now-extinct creature. It's up to US to "take care of everything"--no one else is going to do it for us.

You know, it's not really about saving the planet. The planet's gonna do just fine. It's gone through all sorts of tribulations, been struck by asteroids, had monster volcanoes erupt, experienced a few dozen or so ice ages. I'm not worried about the planet. It's the people I worry about.

Worried or not, there's nothing we can do but adapt to what nature throws at us. We can't prevent tornados or steer hurricanes, what in the world makes man believe he can control global cycles?
