The Magnificent Seven? There is no hard and fast definition of a group of soldiers. An army is divided into group, sub-groups, and further. There are Divisions, Brigades, Regiments, Brigades, Battalions, Companies, Squadrons, Platoons, Troops, and individual soldiers. Such breakdowns are not defined by numbers so much as purpose and ability to utilize multiples of those groups for individual operation under singular command. Probably the term you're looking for may be Troop, or Patrol.

Formed in 1920 this now famous group, "The Group of Seven", consisted of seven Canadian artists:

J.E.H. MacDonald
Lawren Harris
A.Y. Jackson
Arthur Lismer
Franklin Carmichael
F.H. Varley
Frank Johnston

They were painters bitten by the Canadian north who, for the first time, took on the task of painting the great power, scenery and spirit of their land.
