I want to make my own polymer plates 1/12th sale for food for my neice's dolls house. What is the easiest way to form them as I am very new to miniature work?

Here is a good book. http://www.amazon.com/Making-Dolls-House-Miniatures-Polymer/dp/0304355704

I don't think there is a way to make it safe for food.

Check out this particular page at my online polymer clay "encyclopedia" for lessons on making miniature plates and other dishware (plus foods, furniture, etc, etc.) from polymer clay:

http://glassattic.com/polymer/miniatures.htm

P.S. I notice that 2 pages at my site were linked to just above, but that Kids-Beginners page won't have nearly as many lessons on dishware as the Miniatures page ...plus going from the link versions given above for both pages, the navigation bar (to all the other pages) won't show up since pages linked to *from Google searches* somehow lose it ... so it's best to use the links I'm giving.
(if you also want to go to the correct version of the Kids-Beginners page, use this link:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/kids_beginners.htm
...or just look under the letter K in the navigation bar from the Miniatures page or any other page at the site)

Have fun!
