I found one port, but the valve from the recharge kit does not fit it. I am afraid it is the wrong side. The port I can find is located just to the left of the fan shroud and is easily accessible. Where do I locate the LOW side port to recharge the system? This isn't an US/Metric thing, is it? Since the valve did not fit, I wondered. THANKS!

You mean you're looking to recharge the refrigerant - not coolant, I hope.

The port you tried is the HIGH pressure port (near the front) - that's why it doesn't fit. It is designed so that someone cannot accidentally put in the R134a into the wrong side of the system.

The low pressure port you need is located near the windshield, on the passenger side. It has the same black plastic cover as the high pressure port, but the size of the port is smaller, and would fit the R134a cannister that you bought. Be careful not to overcharge it. A cannister with a gauge is the best type. Follow instructions on the cannister and pressure gauge.

does it matter? a car is meant to get you from point a to point b, as long as it does that, why are you worried about looking good? they dont care if some stranger driving down the road has a nicer car, they are worried about their own car and couldnt care less about you. so dont worry about it ^-^
