poultergeists are supposed to be dangerous, but there is no evidence to support their being real.

Boy, has this been hashed around for centuries. Nobody yet has really pinned down what a poltergeist is. It could be a phenomena of several derivations. Hysterics with some buried talent of telekinesis. A spirit with a developed power of anger. An entity that uses this world as a playhouse.
It kind of, after the dish its the wall it is too late to see what hurled it.

From personal experience, Ghost can and do hurt in a physically form. It was not a pleasant experience.
More so, because I have been told on many occasions that I have the ability to see and communicate with the spirits. A fact that I am happy to ignore, deny and be sceptical and question everything for a logical explanation.. But the physical harm I experience defied any logic.

yes it is true because i was watching a program be for and it was about poltergeists and they were in this house and someone there had something carved in his back by a poltergeists and there have not been any ghosts that have hurt anyone physically.

OK so my husband and his family used to live in haunted house way before i knew them. and they had ghosts there. a father and two kids. the little boy was nice and the little girl was evil. she would throw things at them and hold them down. They swear by these stories. I don't believe a ghost can hurt you. so its always been a big debate over the subject. Heres my belief. I believe that there are ghosts. But i don't believe that they can hurt me b/c I have been baptized. Once you are baptized you are a child of god you have been washed by the blood of Jesus. Anything that is evil can not touch you if you are a child of god. they run when they hear his name. why do you think priests can exorcist a home or a person. Only evil things are going to hurt you. a "nice" ghost is not going to hold you down against you will or throw things. My husband is not saved. So that's my theory. I believe that you are saved then they can't touch you. But if you are not then your fare game.

Poltergeists are supposed to be the result of adolescent teenager's psyche - a psyche that can move things around in the real world, often quite violently - i.e. as in the novel 'Carrie'.
Ghosts are supposed to be insubstantial memory traces.

If anyone could prove it we would all know about it and ghosts and poltergeists would be believed in as real. some people believe, some don't. personally i do believe as i've seen so many things that i for one can't deny it however i believe its down to the individual.

i can't prove anything to you, the main reason being is that you're sat at a computer god knows where and i'm sat at a computer somewhere else....but from a keen and varied interest into many things and an inquisitive mind i've found that poultergeists are really only tricksters and move things about in your house, play tricks on your mind, keep you from getting to sleep, etc...
ghosts are generally just looking for a way to move on or looking for a friend..
relatives or friends who may have recently died or on the anniversary of their death may come to reassure you to deal with your grief...like they say someone's watching over you...
malevolent spirits are the dangerous ones: they are people who died at the cause of someone else and look for revenge, and will hurt anyone who gets in their way, e.g. a thief who was shot whilst robbing a jewellery store, would want to finish his business and steal what he was stealing and kill anyone who was remotely involved in his/her death...
but don't give yourself nightmares about it...unless of course you've been involved in the death of that serial killer in the news, just kidding!
most ghosts or spirits just complete their unfinished business and move on

Well I guess that if you believe in them, yeah! Ghosts cant really touch things and move them about whereas poltergeists can so technically, ghosts won't be able to phisically harm but poltergiests could!!

It depends on what you believe. You ask this question, so you probably believe in ghosts, etc.
Are you having a situation where you are being harmed?
I think you need to read Sylvia Brown's books. She has one that is just on spirit guides, and getting the ghosts to cross over.

Poltergeists are not ghosts. They are repressed energy from your own self.
They have nothing to do with ghosts.
