Nope. Not at all.

Although I am a qualified pilot, I am petrified by heights, especially if I am on a tall building. I am not at all worried when flying, I think it is because I am in control and have something to hang on to . I also was in the special forces and did over 50 parachute drops, again no problem. Strange really.

Funny thing is I am never scared when looking out an airplane window, but if I were on a balcony in a high rise building I hate looking down and dont even like standing near the rail.

I don't know I've flown to Hawaii and Africa and plenty of domestic flights, I've been thinking about doing a tandem jump but standing near the window high up in a skyscraper freaks me out.
The L platform used to freak me out too, but that was more like scared I might get accidentally pushed by some kind of a socio-path, I quit riding the L. But I love roller coasters!

Believe it or not, not only can I not feel safe standing on a chair (I do it, but shake and go sweaty!), I cannot even bear to "look down" when watching a programme on television without getting the same effect! It is seeing the ground that frightens me - I have been abseiling down a cliff and am fine, because I concentrated VERY HARD! on my feet, not at the ground below - and need someone to tell me when I am close! It was extremely masochistic of me to try, but my son wanted to do it at school and needed a parent to do it at the same time!
My husband did say that I was extremely pale when I got home - basically, I went into shock when I was safe in his arms!!!!
But I did it - and my son was very proud of me, which made it all worth while! (my husband could not do it because of work - chicken!)

Yet I am not scared of flying and looking out of an aeroplane window at the patchwork quilts below!

When I was younger I was not scared of them. Now that I am an older guy- I wear five point harness on the marklift at work and looking over the ledge of our 80 ft hospital at work and being aware of earthquake activity around here - it is a real concern!

I wouldn't say I'm totally scared of heights but I must admit that I get a bit freaked out at roller-coasters.

Yes, I can't go up a ladder without having problems, but I can stand on top of a big hill, as long as there isn't a sudden drop. I can't do tall buildings well either, I have to stay clear of the windows etc.

i had an accident many years ago and my ears were badly damaged, because of this my sense of balance is all over the place, more so when i'm high up, so yes, i suppose i am scared of heights.
