How do I force myself to go to sleep during the day my 1st night going into 3rd shift? Please help me with suggestions! Do I stay up late the night before so that I am good and tired the next day and then I can take a nap by 3pm or what? Please advise.

1 through 1,000 is the Pick 3.
It's just that 1,000=000.
001 through 999=999 numbers.
So, if someone would have said 1,000,
I would have played 000.
Although it is the Pick 3,
there are 1,000 combinations.
Thank you for your answer though.
I will play your number and if I win ($500)
I will give you a best answer vote.
I'll even drink a beer for you. HaHa
Thanks.
What was your question? Oh, how to adapt to a different shift...
Turn off all sounds and lay on your back with your arms crossed as if you were dead and about to be buried.
Thank goodness and whatever powers be you have a job.
This will be a certain type of hypnosis and it takes a couple days to become effective, but it does work.
I've had so many shift changes, this is the best practice for me.
Even if you can't sleep, lay their motionless and do not get up unless you absolutely have to.
Natural sleep will come eventually. Then you will be back in the 'swing' of things until your next shift change.

1] Stay up a few hours later than usual, but get up the regular time [ so you sleep 6 hours vs. 8 hrs., for instance.]
2] Do aerobics like yardwork, house cleaning.
3] Eat a turkey and cheese sandwich with a glass of milk for lunch [ all rich in tryptophans ]
4 Take a nap. Sleep until 2 hours before you have to go to work, if you can.
5] Eat breakfast - this helps to fool your body.
6] Pack a lunch. Not every place has all night food service.
Bring a lunch, and one or two nutritious, crunchy snacks.
For some reason, crunching carrots/apples/celery helps you stay awake. Bring some caffeine if you aren't sure they'll have some.
7] Limit your caffiene intake to three servings in your shift.
Drink lots of water - you can't fall asleep if you have to pee all the time!
8] Bring whatever you take for a headache - you'll probably get one the first night.
9] Eat a very light meal when you get home [ cereal and milk, soup, half sandwich ], take your bath/shower, and go to bed!
Turn off phone in your bedroom, and don't let anybody disturb you unless the house is on fire.
P.S. try to sleep enough every 24 hrs. You will get progressively more tired and your IQ will drop if you don't! If you are too tired to drive home, call to let someone know, and take a nap in the car! I know several people who fell asleep on the way home...
TIP- lay out your clothes before you go to sleep. One night I went to work without underwear!

Thats what I do. I am a 911 Operator and work shift work. It is extremely hard your first night on nights. I just try to stay up as late as possible so that I will sleep the next day. Another thing that will help is covering the windows with tin foil or something like that. You can trick yourself. The darker the better!!!!

Good luck!!

I once worked 3rd shift, and as a person who isnt a daytime napper and loves my sleep at night, the first week or so was brutal. I would suggest staying up later and later each night and sleeping in a little more each morning if possible. If thats not possible, coffee... lots of coffe....lol. Good luck to ya!

I worked 3rd shift for many years, and yes stay up so that you're tired the next day. Then stick with the same sleeping schedule! I always stayed up all morning and then went to bed in the afternoon. Others went to bed right when they got home and were up in the afternoon. You have to find the right one for you and stick with it or you'll constantly be tired. Good luck!

Personally I find I can not sleep the day before but you will find it quite easy to stay awake during your shift if you are busy and you will certainly sleep the next day.Good luck

My husband doesn't try to stay up all night but he will go on just a small about of sleep so that he has no issues falling asleep. You might also want to consider darkening the room. I use black sheets doubled over, but they do sell room darkening blinks. He says that is what helps the most.
