Also, the effects of Islamic law, family, social pressures and economic issues. There is a very high birth rate amongst Arab North African immigrants in countries such as France, the Netherlands, the U.K., Norway and others. Birth control and abortion is available to them. One leader requested the removal of drawings of female anatomy from textbooks, (ironic because originally Arabian anatomists made initial advances in the study during the Middle Ages). He also wanted sex education banned and for the genders to be separate.

Hi there

Just my perception, but this is a factor in a variety of cultures, not just those which are primarily Islamic.

Societies which are, or have recently been, largely rural tend to put far more emphasis on sons (valuable) than daughters (a drain on resources).

In simple terms, when a daughter gets married in these cultures the parents have to MAKE a dowry payment to the son's family.

When a son gets married, his parents get to COLLECT the pay out.

Even when people from such cultures move into Western-style societies it takes time for their attitudes to change (maybe a generation or two, at least), especially if they stay in touch with the folks back home.

So, for people from these cultures, you keep having kids until you have at least one or two sons.
In some families this might happen straight away, for many others they will have at least one ort two (basicall unwanted) girls before a son turns up.

It might not seem very constructive from a Westerner's point of view, but it makes very good sense to them.

As to the sex lessons, in this kind of society a woman's first duty is to obey the males in her own family until she gets married. Then she gets to obey her husband and his male relatives as well/instead. According to that mentality she has no need to understand anything her male relatives don't tell her.
