When you ask that question a couple of quotes come to myi mind: "blood is thicker than water" which in a way means you would protect your family, even your own family like parents and siblings and the children you had even before you would your spouse or friends.

The other quote goes something like this: "only I can talk about my family". And that one means other people have no right to talk about your family...however they can by etiquette listen to you when you talk about your family.

The reaction is usually of sticking up for your family. Which some people might call you argumentative, but that's ok as they are misinformed or maybe they don't have family.

Depends on what they say. If they are saying nice things i would agree and maybe add something they didn't know and if they were saying bad things i would defend my mom. My mom is a wonderful kind and caring person and there it no reason to talk badly about her

I laugh at them because when they stoop to that level I know they have already lost the debate. In the last few years lots of muslims have threatened to do nasty things to my mom to show how peaceful islam is. She would kill them if they tried. I gave her a pistol for Christmas a few years ago...

If they're saying good things... I'd feel proud.
If what they're saying is negative... (which couln't ever be) they
1. wouldn't ever say it in front of me
2. if they did, i would make sure they know they are wrong and
3. it just wouldn't happen. she's the best mom a person could ever have.

If it's something bad, pop them in the mouth and say that it's your mom that they are talking about. Stand up for her.

I burst out and say, "Yo mama was a papa, and yo papa was a mama!" That usually shuts them up. If that doesn't work, I hug them so the run away or wipe a booger on them.

I defend her. Then I usually demoralize the person so badly that they wish their mom would have had an abortion.

I think I just ignore them. "You don't know me!" But, seriously, my mom is an ***, so its not worth the breath anyone would take for that sonversation.
